a man sitting in front of a drum set
Photo by Julio Lopez on Unsplash

music dwells in me
strikes the hi-hat snare & ride
worships the claves

clicks & clocks in tune
against big band, latin jazz
& I, the drummer

take but one hour
learn a tune that knows me well
& ride the duende

across the cosmos
drag & fulcrum to the beat
of ‘nawlins & heat
