The Atlantic sun awakens us on broken driftwood.
Wormwood & teff still braided around our ankles,
we pray silently to Abba for land to find us swiftly. 

Dolphins crown waters near the horizon
where sky meets sea & chapped lips bleed
in sweltering heat, our words aflame

like little fires too hot for cooling prayers.
